Admission is free to the two-day fair, is set for noon to 4 p.m., June 23 and 24 at Volkening Heritage Farm, 201 S. Plum Grove Road.

See the best in 19th century farm equipment as you stroll through this recreation of an 1880s country fair. Visit the livestock and domestic arts tent, be drawn in with blue ribbon winning skits and other live entertainment and purchase the latest wears from Spring Valley Handy-Crafters.

“Country Fairs were a fun experience in the 19th century,” said Patty Kennedy, farm program coordinator. “Visitors will see interpreters showing animals, baked goods and farm equipment in competition for blue ribbons – the quintessential prize for the best of the fair.”

Food and other refreshments also will be available for purchase. Parking is available on Plum Grove Road, across from Heritage Farm.
