Take a “cool” run with the Schaumburg Park District

chiliThe Schaumburg Park District’s annual 5K Chilly Chili Race isn’t just for adults!

Children ages 10 and older also are welcome to test their endurance.

The race begins at 10 a.m., Dec. 3, at the Schaumburg Golf Club, 401 N. Roselle Road. Participants may warm up after the race with a chili lunch. Awards will be issued in each age group, including 10-14 and 15-19. Each racer will receive a long-sleeve tech shirt.

Pre-registration is available at www.active.com. Pre-registration  is $35 and due by 5 p.m., Nov. 30. Race-day registration is $40. Check-in, packet pick-up and race-day registration will be available 8-9:30 a.m., Dec. 3. The Chilly Chili 5K is sponsored by Amita Health and Dick Pond Athletics.

Hang with friends at Boo-2U Fest

Boo2U Come in costume and join the fun during the Schaumburg Park District’s Boo-2U Fest.

An interactive celebration for ages 8-11, the fest is set for 7-9 p.m., Oct. 28, at the Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Road. Activities include a DJ, games and crafts!

Cost is $10. Participants must be signed in and out by an adult 18 or older.

Jr. Basketball keeps little athletes on the move

When the temperatures drop, keep your tot active with Jr. Basketball.

Offered to ages 3-4, new classes start Jan. 6 at The Sport Center, 1141 W. Irving Park Road. The program is designed to teach basketball at a basic level while ensuring players stay active and engaged the entire class. Morning, afternoon and evening classes are available.

Teaching such a young age group involves playing basketball-style games, while also focusing on basic mechanics and building confidence. Jr. Basketball is an idea way to help little ones exercise, as footwork is an extremely important aspect and no player will be sitting.

Pumpkin Fest Fall Fun for Everyone

Calling all Decorators! Supplies will be on hand for your to paint, glitter and color your pumpkin just the way you like it. No registration required. Decorating is free, but in lieu of money, we will be collecting donations of non-perishable food items to donate to the local food bank.
