Start on the right track with a Youth Fitness Training Orientation

CRC_4Being old enough to use Schaumburg Park District fitness facilities may be an exciting milestone for adolescents as they incorporate regular workouts into their lifestyles.

Teens wanting to use cardio and fitness equipment should first undergo a Youth Fitness Training Orientation. Held at the Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Road, the program teaches youths the correct ways to utilize appropriate equipment at District facilities.

Upcoming orientations are available for participants ages 12-13 and include:

  • 10 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Oct. 15
  • 10 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Oct. 29
  • 10 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Nov. 12
  • 10 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Nov. 26
  • 10 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Dec. 10

Enjoy the ‘home school’ advantage at the Schaumburg Park District

bball_1 The Schaumburg Park District offers a variety of ways for homeschool students to take time for fun this fall through sports and fitness.

Specifically designed for home school children, Home School Gym & Turf allows youngsters to stay active and meet new friends. Gym and field sports equipment is available, allowing participants to shoot hoops, play catch or get in a game of soccer or volleyball. Classes take place at The Sport Center, 1141 W. Irving Park Road.

Home School PE, Swim and Health provides an introduction to sports, skill development and health. Participants spend the first half of the class in the gym and the second half swimming at The Water Works. Active clothing including gym shoes, swim attire and a towel are required. Classes take place at the Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Road.

Upcoming classes include:

  • Home School Open Gym & Turf, 12:30-2:30 p.m., Sept. 18-Dec. 4 (ages 4-14)
  • Home School PE, Swim & Health, 11:30-1 p.m., Sept. 17-Dec. 3 (ages 6-17)

Catch ‘Em All at HE Parks’ Pokemon Go Gathering

Pokemon-villagecabletemplateCalling all Pokémon Trainers, this event is for you. For Trainers of all ages! We’ll have lures set around Black Bear Park which has more than 15 Poké
Stops. Prizes will be given in each age group to the Pokémon Trainers who catch the strongest wild  Pokémon, as well as the most Pokémon caught!

Register at the event. This event is free and for all ages. Age categories will be Under 10 years, 10-15 years and 15+ years.

Please note, the Disc Golf Course will be closed from 9:30A-12:30P for this event.
