Get your kicks with Jr. Soccer

Jr. Soccer_scLet the Schaumburg Park District teach your tot some fancy footwork this summer!

Offered to children ages 3-6, Junior Soccer takes place at The Sport Center, 1141 W. Irving Park Road.

Designed to teach children fundamentals of the sport by hiding drills in fun games and using association techniques designed to get down to the players level, Jr. Soccer will keep children engaged both mentally and physically.

Players learn simple foot skills, as well as dribbling, passing, shooting and spreading the field. An All Star class, the program also will focus on teamwork and sportsmanship.

  • 11-11:45 a.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 26-August 11 (ages 3-4)
  • 11:45 a.m.-12:45 a.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 26-August 11 (ages 4-6)

Schaumburg Park District camp champions healthy eating

Fruits and veggies to the rescue camp is set for 10 a.m.-noon, Aug. 8-12.

The Schaumburg Park  District’s Fruits and Veggies to the Rescue Camp taps into youngsters’ enthusiasm of superheroes, inspiring them to eat healthy. Children ages 4 to 6 will love learning about superheroes, villains and the secret powers of healthy eating. In addition to tasting a variety of foods each day, campers will be treated to a superhero show with costumes, a bubble machine and creative art activities.

Children also will make superhero masks, enjoy an edible scavenger hunt, track their tasting efforts and receive a  special token for a healthy treat at a local grocery store, restaurant or farmers market.

Dribble away the summer at Half Pint Hoopsters

Help your child develop an early love of basketball this summer with the Schaumburg Park District!half pint-sc

Registration is underway for Half Pint Hoopsters. Classes are available for children ages 6-9 and take place at the Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Road, and Schaumburg Tennis Plus, 1416 N. Payne Road.

Participants will focus on dribbling, passing, shooting and teamwork through drills and games.

Upcoming classes include:

  • 11-11:45 a.m., Saturdays,  July 23-Aug. 27, STP (ages 6-9)
  • 4:40-5:15 p.m., Mondays, July 25-Aug. 29, CRC (ages 6-9

Jr. T-Ball teaches tots ballgame basics

t-ball-fallIntroduce little ones to a popular sport with Jr. T-Ball at the Schaumburg Park District.

Registration for Jr. T-Ball is underway, with classes beginning June 10 at The Sport Center, 1141 W. Irving Park Road. Classes are available for children ages 3 to 4 and 4 to 6 and teach proper catching, throwing fielding, base running and batting techniques. Lessons also include teamwork and sportsmanship while helping to develop hand-eye coordination.
