Be Active, Be Healthy is a specially designed program geared toward helping children build healthy bodies through lunch and play from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mondays and Fridays in the Creative Activity Room at the Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Road. Children should bring a healthy lunch.

Classes begin Sept. 1 and run through May 20, 2016. Children who will enter kindergarten in 2016 and be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2015 are eligible. Registration is underway at the Pat Shephard Early Childhood Center, 421 N. Springinsguth Road.

Children ages 4 to 7 are invited demonstrate their bicycling abilities from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, at  Ken Alley Safety Park, located outside the Pat Shephard Center, 421 N. Springinsguth Road. The event includes games for young cyclists along with education on proper bike safety and maintenance from the Schaumburg Police Department and Bike Connection. Cost is $7 for residents and $10 for non-residents.

Improve tennis skills through lessons

Tiny Tennis is designed for the true beginner to tennis.

Little ones will focus on motor skills and hand-eye-coordination through Tiny Tennis at Schaumburg Tennis Plus, 1415 N. Payne Road. IMG_5561

  • 4 to 4:45 p.m. | Thursdays, April 23-June 11
  • 9:15 to 10 a.m. | Saturdays, April 25-June 13

Beginning stroke mechanics will be introduced on the forehand, backhand and serve.

Age appropriate equipment will be used. Classes taught on a 36′ court.

Get children moving and grooving

The Zumba Kids program is the ultimate dance-fitness party for young Zumba fans.

Children will rock with friends to age-appropriate music 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Saturdays, May 9-June 6 at the Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Road.

This class is all about feeling fearless on the dance floor, reinforcing the idea that it’s okay to be yourself and dance like no one’s watching!

Learn fitness basics before going to the gym

Scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon May 9, the Youth Fitness Training Orientation will teach children how to use cardio and selectorized fitness equipment.

After successfully completing the fitness training orientation, teens may use the appropriate equipment at Schaumburg Park District fitness facilities.
