Grab a towel and get ready for some fun!

This splashtastic class is held from 6:30-7:30 p.m., Thursdays, June 26-July 31 at the Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Road. The first half of class will be held in the Creative Activity Room singing songs, creating crafts and playing group games. IMG_5307

The second half of class will be at the pool for group fun in the zero depth pool. The instructor will lead songs and games in the pool.

Parent must attend class with child.

Show off your cycling skills

Come one, come all to Safety Park and show off cycling skills.

There will be a variety of games for young cyclists to exhibit their bicycling abilities from 5:30-7 p.m., May 21 at Safety Park during the Bike Rodeo. The event will also be educational as participants will learn about proper bike safety and maintenance from the Schaumburg Police Department and Bike Connection. IMG_6378

Stay active with summer camps

Register for summer camps with the Schaumburg Park District and stay healthy and fit this summer.

Hit a baseball, cartwheel in gymnastics and ollie on a skateboard! Children will have opportunities to participate in physical activity, enhance sports skills and have fun in sports camps. This summer’s athletic camps will IMG_0551feature badminton, baseball, basketball, dodgeball, flag football, football, golf, gymnastics, lacrosse, pickleball, skateboarding, soccer, tennis, and track and field.

The District’s athletic camps will be taught at the Sport Center, 1141 W. Irving Park Road; Olympic Park, 1675 E. Old Schaumburg Road; Meineke Recreation Center, 220 E. Weathersfield Way.

District camps vary in cost and dates. Registration is now available at Schaumburg Park District facilities and parkfun.com Registration is ongoing until camps are filled.

Try out for the Barracuda Swim Team

The Schaumburg Park District’s Barracuda Swim Team will be holding a new swimmer tryout from 4 to 6 p.m., June 3 at The Water Works.IMG_6519

The Barracuda Swim Team is a multi-level program offering opportunities for competition and skill development to all swimmers. Practices are held at Meineke Recreation Center. Swimmers will be required to buy a team suit at registration where order forms will be provided.

Bike through town

Pedal your way through Schaumburg from Noon to 2:15 p.m., May 18 at Blackwell Elementary School for the Fahrrad Tour Von Schaumburg Bike Ride & Picnic.

Celebrate Schaumburg’s German heritage with a police-guided one-hour tour of its bikeways. This bike tour is over five miles and rides as a group.

Participants will receive a free hot dog or brat, chips and a drink.

A limited supply of T-shirts will be available for $10.
