Bike to Work Day Ride with the Mayor May 17th

Each year Schaumburg celebrates Bike to Work Day with a ceremonial ride to work with Schaumburg’s Village President.  The event takes place on the third Friday of May each year.  This year’s event will take place on Friday, May 17, 2013 starting at Meineke Recreation Center at 9:30 am and finishing at the Robert O. Atcher Municipal Center.

Fahrrad Tour Von Schaumburg Bike Ride and Picnic May 19th

Grab your helmet and bicycle for a ride through Schaumburg!

Translated from German to English, Fahrrad Tour von Schaumburg means Bicycle Route Tour of Schaumburg.  This event will take place on Sunday, May 19, 2013 from noon to 2:15 pm.  Each year the village invites all to come celebrate Schaumburg’s heritage and extensive bike route network with a seven mile ride.  Riders will begin the group tour at Blackwell Elementary School, 345 N. Walnut Lane, promptly at noon. The entire family will enjoy the one-hour police guided bike tour along Schaumburg bikeways. The bike ride will end at Robert O. Atcher Municipal Center with a picnic featuring a free hot dog or brat, chips, a drink and entertainment.

Bus transportation will be provided for participants and their bikes from the Village Plaza back to Blackwell Elementary School beginning at 1:45 p.m.

Pre-registration is not required. All riders must sign a liability waiver prior to departure. Beginners and riders with training wheels are not advised to participate.

A limited number of T-shirts will be available for $10 each.

Schaumburg Golf ClubTry a new sport!

Schaumburg Golf Club offers a summer junior golf program for ages 5 to 12. Students learn at their own speed and are given maximum individual attention in developmental classes focusing on rules, etiquette, short game and full swing. Students are also taught the fundamentals of the golf swing including proper grip, body alignment and posture. The program is taught by the Schaumburg Golf Academy.
